Does CAO have a recruitment policy?

CAO follows a recruitment policy established by its Board of Directors that requires most available positions to be posted internally before applications can be accepted from the public.  However, once a position is open to the public, it is posted on the CAO website for at least one week, and is also posted at all CAO locations.

How can I apply for a vacant CAO position?

All applications and resumes for CAO positions must be submitted to the Human Resource Office at 70 Harvard Place, Buffalo.

CAO accepts applications in person at its Human Resource Office Monday through Friday, between the hours of 10 AM and 4 PM.  In addition, you may e-mail a resume to caohr@roadrunner.com, or fax to (716) 881-2927, attention Human Resource Office.  Be sure to specify the job title of the position in your e-mail or fax.

How will I know if I am a candidate for a position?

If you meet the qualifications for a vacant position, you will be contacted and asked to come to a CAO location to interview for the position at a specific date and time.  If you have submitted a resume but have not personally completed an application, you must complete an official CAO application before you interview for any CAO position.  You will be able to do this immediately before your scheduled interview in most cases. Some positions may require more than one job interview.

When will I know the results of my job interview?

In order to obtain the best candidates for each position, CAO has a very thorough and sometimes lengthy hiring process.  CAO will verify your references and your educational or professional credentials, and, in many cases, complete a criminal background check before a hiring decision will be made.  However, all candidates who apply for a vacant position at CAO receive a written notice when the hiring process has been completed.  Successful candidates often receive a telephone inquiry to verify their availability prior to receiving a written job offer.  If there is any change to your address or telephone number after you have applied for a vacant CAO position and before your receive written notification of the results of that application, you should provide the Human Resources Office with the new contact information.
